Mixed Media Monday- playing cards
April 28, 2008

This was a little box of playing cards I got in a cracker last Christmas and kept it for an occasion such as this……lol. The cards are 4cm high and the little box 5cm.  And this is my entry for Mixed Media Monday this week.

Happy Birthday to My Dad!
April 27, 2008

Made this card for my hero, my Dad!! It’s his birthday today, although I think he prefered the bottle of malt that went with this….lol

Moo & Birthday Hanging
April 25, 2008

The theme on Nellie’s “Make a Moo or Two” challenge blog this week is “girls” and I had this picture of….me…lol for once it’s not Sophie (as I couldn’t be doing with resizing pics etc and this one was done already…) so I layered some paper, gold mullberry paper and “angel hair” and made this little moo, added a piece of german scrap, edged with Krylon, bob’s yer aunty- I feel it needs words or a word but I don’t have anything suitable, so I may add that later as this is one for keeping for me.

Also wanted to blog this birthday hanging, I made it for Em a couple of weeks back, but I had lost the jpeg, so couldn’t blog it. Just found it in amongst other pics, so here it is, Emma’s birthday hanging.

Wednesday Stamper- Lippychick Book
April 23, 2008

The theme on this week’s Wednesday Stamper is “insects” and I was just finishing off this Lippychick “flop book” for a design team assignment for Craftaway. So I decided it was a perfect entry, as there is stamping a plenty on it….lol Also pictures of my gorgeous daughter (ok I’m biased…) Sophie, and the image in the centre was a free download from Inka.

The Lippychick books are fab, and come prefolded, which is good if you’re anything like me….lol all ready to decorate!!

Thanks for stopping by….Kaz x

Plastic cover…

Front, complete with bee and ladybirds and butterflies- sorry about the poor quality pic, I don’t know where I’ve gone wrong here, but since the book is sent off I can’t rectify it!

The Inside, folded up….

  Inside unfolded….

The underneath, love those glimmer mists!

And last, the back, complete with mica flakes.

Design Team
April 9, 2008

I’m  chuffed to tell you all I have been chosen to be on the Design Team for Craftaway, a fab Online craft store.

I love a challenge and can’t wait to start creating for this. There is also a fab newsletter you can sign up for and I’ll be contributing to that too. Really looking forward to it, and I’d like to thank Marie for giving me this chance.

Mixed Media Monday- Paris, and awards!!
April 7, 2008

This is my contribution to this week’s challenge on Mixed Media Monday, where the theme is Paris. One of my favourite themes again, been a great couple of weeks on the challenges for themes. Thought I’d try something different- this is the first time I’ve decorated a mask, this was just a plain paper mache mask bought for a pound or two and decorated in the style of some of the Moulin Rouge dancers…….got lots of inspiration for this on google images. Also couldn’t have a Paris themed creation without an Eiffel Tower in….hence the charm….lol

Also was very pleased this week to receive the Arte Y Pico award from Carrie, Jo and Fatma, three of my most favourite bloggers ever!!

Here are the conditions of accepting the award….

1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogging community, no matter what language.2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her/him the award itself.4. The Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte Y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.5. To show these conditions.

http://arteypico.blogspot.com/

Now I see the award is on lots of blogs already, including those I was going to nominate- but I am going to choose 5 to carry the award on, as I think it’s nice to be recognised by fellow bloggers that you are doing ok. So my five are…..

Audrey Barrett I love Audrey’s blog as it’s so diverse, everything from photo shoots to mixed media to soldering- love that and Audrey is ok too…… 😉

Jillian Just cos I love her work, I like the way she uses collage and I love looking to see anything new (and her latest ATCs are gorgeous!!)

Audrey Hernandez  Well no one ever gives her awards do they? lol She’s obviously very talented and inspirational bla bla bla yadda yadda yadda…….whatever……..lol

Deb Freeman One of the things I love about Deb is she seems to be able to do any style, clean, messy, arty, scrappy, and she does it all well. I love her art and also she has some fab backgrounds to download (the trees one is GORGEOUS!!)

and last but by no means least, Michelle Ward’s fantastic Green Pepper Press blog (as Michelle’s own blog is closed for maintenence atm). This is a blog I go on regularly, but it’s above me art-wise so I don’t always join in- but the art is fantastic and I have learned loads from it- but I love that Michelle is into music as much as she is…and the type of music too……she’s going to see MCR soon and I am SSOOOOOOOO jealous I can’t tell you….lol (I’ve only seen them three times, it’s SO not enough) -I love HIM as well so her header and her digital collages etc are just brilliant, and inspired me to make my own headers on here and on my diary blog (that one’s a yummy Gee header too, fab even if I do say so myself…lol) I could prattle on here forever, which is why I nominated Michelle…..lol

I hope you all pass this on, like I said I love recieving these things and knowing I’m doing something right or pleasing someone.

Moo Cards
April 5, 2008

some Moo cards I’ve made for a swap, and also to fit in with the theme of Nellie’s challenge site, Make a Moo or Two, and that is Swirls and Flourishes.

Wednesday Stamper- TREES!!!!!
April 3, 2008

Wednesday Stamper this week has the wonderful theme of TREES!!!! As you can see below I use trees a lot in my work, but the theme inspired me to go make more! After seeing all the gorgeous entries so far, it seems I’m not alone and we all love trees!

So here’s my contribution…….

Tag- the quote is “Those who look for beauty find it” and I used that because no one in my “real life” would ever look at a spooky black tree or a Scooby Doo style house and think it was beautiful, but I do.

wstrees.jpg

and a stampbord ATC- alcohol inked and scraped into.

wstrees2.jpg

I have also made a slide mailer charm, but after using up the solder that was in my kit, I bought new solder, and it’s completely different to work with, so I can’t do it……lol who knew? I’ll have to read up on the soldering I think….lol

Moo, TGIF, MMM and stuff….
April 1, 2008

Well it seems I work more under stress- I’ll leave it to you to decide if I work better or not….lol Waiting to here about a house application so hopefully soon, and we’ll get settled eventually! In the meantime I seem to never be away from the craft table, helps that it’s now in the lounge ready to be packed along with everything else (but LAST of course!!!) So this is what I’ve been doing…..

First, my Moos, for Nellie’s challenge, Make A Moo or Two. The theme set on Friday was “text” and this is what I’ve made- these are going to Deb as we organised a swap forever ago….lol

mootext.jpg

And still on the subject of Deb….that swap also included a triangle, you know way back when they were fashionable….lol so here is mine. It’s a 4×4 piece of card cut into a triangle, so a little big, but a good size to work with.

debtriangle1.jpg

Now onto TGIF– another Friday challenge, this time the theme, set by Rosie, is “Tags” so I had to do this one, as I love doing tags anyway. So I made a big tag and wasn’t 100% happy with it, so made a little one…..and here they are….

Moving on, this is my very first entry for Mixed Media Monday– a site I always look at, the samples are always gorgeous as are the entries that go on. The theme this week is “Believe” and I was making this Zutter 6×6 box for my friend Carrie and it happens to fit the bill! I wanted to make a Zutter box since seeing Hermine’s a while back, (click HERE for the actual post)- the stamping on hers is just stunning though….I went for a more mixed media look I think, takes away from the fact I’m nowhere near that stage of stamping!! lol Also Carol made a gorgeous Zutter Box recently and that was on the front page of Craft Stamper!!! Famous friends I have you know……lol

carrieboxfront.jpg

carrieboxside.jpg

That’s the challenges over, so moving on to stuff I’ve made just to make it………if you know what I mean…….lol

Spring MWO- this is a Monthly WorkOut we do on our forum, and the theme was spring, and this was my make for that……..before my darling daughter Sophie got to it with a bottle of Fully Purple glimmer mists……..tsk

springmwo.jpg

Case in point- Sophie in distress, namely Broken China and Faded Jeans…….

distresssophie1.jpg

Since this wasn’t a go-er, I started making something else, but wasn’t in time to send it or enter the challenge……only just finished it yesterday….lol

garden4.jpg

then, inspired by the spring colours I’d been using, I did a little 6×4 canvas……the main image was a stamp given to me by a very good friend, and it’s one of my all time favourites, I just love it.

canvas.jpg

Then I decided to have a play with my soldering kit- Carrie does FAB soldering on her charms and recently sent me one. And I had bought a great kit a long while ago and never used it…….so this is my first attempt ever at soldering, and I know the actual soldering leaves a lot to be desired, but I got there!! (thanks to loads of advice from Carrie and Audrey) and I really loved doing this, will definately make more of these very soon.

Loving the jewellery connection, I had this kit for a necklace and bracelet lying for ages too, so made this for my Mum, and the photos in it are my three kids. She is a brilliant Gran and I knew she’d love this.

jewellery.jpg

This one was an experiment, as I always use images of people in my work, I thought I’d have a go at doing something with no people in……mmmmmm had to be trees though (no birds though Gillian…..hehe). I’m thinking I may stick an image of a person over this at some point……lol. Had loads of fun doing the chipboard swirl though, as I mixed Fired Brick distress re inker with gold Perfect Pearls, and spritzed it on, did a few at the one time though, and it was very very messy and fab!!

trees.jpg

Now last but by no means least………Joanne’s monthly Inchie Swap- love love love making little inchies, and the theme chosen this month by guest artist and “master stamper” (according to Stampington no less!!! lol) – Jo Capper-Sandon – is “Children”- you can see her sample on Joanne’s or on her own blog, and it’s stunning.  Once again with my inchies I have to apologise for the poor pic, I just cannot get a good pic of inchies ever. I’m terrible for it…..any tips shout up……lol

childinchie.jpg

Edited to add this, as I took Joanne’s advice and took the pic from further away and cropped it……

joanneinchie.jpg

I’d like to finish by thanking every single one of you who looks at my blog, and leave lovely comments for me- it means a lot to have other people who like the same things say that you’re doing ok. So thank you all.
